A photo of the Barri Gòtic – the Gothic Quarter – which I took during a crossing on the Transbordador Aeri del Port. You can see La Rambla, the tree-lined street winding its way down from Plaça de Catalunya to the harbour. A statue of Christopher Columbus – Monument a Colom – sits in the middle of Plaça de la Carbonera, as a reminder that Barcelona was where he arrived upon his return from his discovery voyage to the Americas. The statue is said to be modeled on Nelson’s column and even has four lions around its base.
Also visible in this shot are Catedral de la Santa Creu i Santa Eulàlia (in the top right quadrant) and Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família (in the very top-right), both with cranes all around them.
