Anella Olímpica

The Anella Olímpica: location of the Games of the XXV Olympiad which took place in 1992. This was the first Olympics that I remember watching as a kid and it was a great year for British sport with gold medal performances from Linford Christie, Sally Gunnell, Redgrave & Pinsent, Chris Boardman and the Searle brothers.

The park is a bit of a ghost town these days; huge public squares designed for tens of thousands of visitors now host just a few tens of tourists and joggers. Hopefully the ‘legacy’ efforts in London will help the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park avoid the same fate after 2012.

The striking Montjuïc Communications Tower – built to transmit the coverage of the games – can be seen from all over Barcelona.

Inspired another intrepid outing of prolific London blogger diamondgeezer, I set off on Saturday to explore the western half of Highgate Cemetery. It turned out to be one of the most interesting outings I have had in London, with a very informative guide leading a small group of us around, providing us with all sorts of history and trivia – it was well worth the £7 admission.

Stitched from 7 photos, this panorama takes in a fair few of the sights of Paris: the River Seine, La Défense, the Eiffel Tower and the Basilica of the Sacré Cœur, to name a few. It’s well worth a climb up the 422 steps of Notre Dame to take in this view!

I was wandering along the riverbanks in Putney and Fulham and stumbled across this chap, who was having a kip in the sunshine.Â He was there for at least three quarters of an hour, away with the fairies.Â I couldn’t resist taking this on my second timeÂ walking past him.
