I took this last year, but was never really happy with the processing. I’ve revisited it again as I haven’t been out taking shots recently and I felt like posting a photo. This is an HDR image from six shots; three exposures were used for the sky and then a further three for the foreground once the lights of the buildings had turned on.

There was some crazy rain and snow today. I didn’t have my camera unfortunately, but I was reminded of this shot that I took a while back.

I’m a sucker for a good sunset and I love the clouds formations on this one. This one was taken ages ago, but I just rediscovered the file on my computer. The shot was taken with my old Ixus and I’m impressed how well it coped metering the scene.

I’ve been meaning to process this one for a while, but my old PC wouldn’t have been able to handle it. The new iMac has outdone itself with this post-processing behemoth. 7 Raw images converted to 21 TIFFs (each 23MB in size), merged into 7 HDR TIFFS, combined into a panorama (by hand…).

Not sure about the black/white conversion though – I’d be interested to hear comments

Having just moved my photo collection over to my shiny new iMac :-), I came across a number of old RAW files that I never got around to editing. This one is of Canary Wharf in winter sunshine from December 2005.

So, I’ve had to get up before dawn for the last few weeks (long commute to a client…) but it does have some benefits – beautiful sunrise this morning.

This picture was printed in The London Paper (free evening rag) – however, the paper’s predominant colour is purple, so the pic had a bit of a colour shift!

Had some strange weather round this way today – massive thunderstorms and rain showers, interspersed with bright sunshine, resulting in the above.

This is a HDR shot of the Millennium Dome and the Canary Wharf buildings and is composed of four separate exposures. As it was a windy day, this has given the appearance of motion in the sky, as the clouds have moved significantly between the frames, even though they were taken in the space of a couple of seconds. The exposures were blended together using Photomatix and the resulting image was converted to black & white using the channel mixer in Photoshop.

I took this picture from Trinity Buoy Wharf, which is a centre for arts and cultural enterprises. There are several art studios there, as well as an old lighthouse, which recently hosted a private concert by the Streets. The location presents quite a lot of interesting subjects to photograph and is well worth a visit. Nearest public transportation is East India DLR, which is ten minutes walk away.

On a walk up the Isle of Dogs in east London, I found some cows! As you can see from the background, they weren’t very far from the UK’s tallest buildings! I subsequently discovered that there is a small farm and nature reserve here.

An early-evening view of the Canary Wharf buildings taken from the end of the Greenwich Peninsula, next to the Millennium Dome. This was one of the very first shots that I took with a tripod – I had been wanting to shoot the smooth water effect that can only be achieved using a long exposure on a tripod.

This is a shot of the Canary Wharf buildings that I took from the top of One Tree Hill in Greenwich Park. I used a polarising filter to help retain detail in the sky and then furthered the effect by using the burn tool in Photoshop.

Greenwich Park is my favourite London park as it has great views, rolling hills, a deer park, the Observatory and the Maritime Museum (both great exhibits and both free!). Nearest stations are Greenwich (national rail and DLR) and ‘Cutty Sark for Maritime Greenwich’ (DLR).
