Hiorne Tower, Arundel

Hiorne Tower is a folly built for the Duke of Norfolk in the 18th Century. It is named for its architect, who was allegedly trying to demonstrate to the Duke that he had the necessary skill to take charge of the renovation of the nearby Arundel Castle.

Wow, I think this is very surreal and very cool. I like way the infrared has made it look like a beach which has made the cold tones of the tower seem quite dramatic…

hi my name is mark and i am researching my family tree.
saw your pic of hiorne tower and thought i would inform you that my great grandmother use to live in hiorne tower. this was due to the fact that my great grandfather, whose name escapes me as i type this was infact the duke of norfolk’s gamekeeper.
My mum has retold of stories that as a little girl she stayed in the tower with her nan for most of the summer holidays within the grounds and remembers of running up the tower staircase to raise the flag.
just wondered if there was anywhere they have an official pic of the inside of the tower or any official records for the tower residents.
hope my tell delights you and would be glad of any feedback from yourself.
many thanks
mark titus.
